In-game tooltip: enter Zeal. While in this state your Attack and Defense are increased, and Curse Mana no longer recovers automatically. Talents listed on the skill add super armour and health recovery to it.

When to use it
The fight is played around whether it is up. Against a Blasphemer, the same bar tells you when to disengage. The tooltip adds the cost the observed play did not show: Curse Mana stops regenerating for the duration, so the window is offensive by construction.
