When to use it
The close-range answer on a school otherwise built to hold distance — worth a slot precisely because Elemental gets forced into melee more often than Stardust does.
Builds using this
- Sorcerer — Fire and Ice, PvP — Toonchie explains it at 01:28The payoff swing off a frozen target. Free, in his framing, because the freeze buys the window.
What the balance passes changed
- 2026-09-03 · ChangedInput buffering optimised so the skill no longer causes unintended follow-up activations. Paired with the same fix on Windcraft.
- 2026-08-12 · ChangedDamage redistributed towards direct and away from damage-over-time; total damage unchanged. Also fixed: the Elemental Surge talent state failed to consume properly on a missed Flameblade.
Direction is the patch note’s own word, not a verdict on whether the skill is now good. Patch notes and update history.
